New “Flag Counter” on the SideBar

I added a "Flag Counter" on the right hand sidebar to track locations of visitors to our pages, and commented on the previous post that our first non-Canadian visitor was Spanish (and speculated that it might be Ferrer or Verdasco - probably Verdasco).

So...
I realize Verdasco and Ferrer are in Mexico and not in Spain – so what I said doesn't actually make much sense.  Here’s what the flag counter looks like now though in a happy coincidence:

Flag Counter at 10:30 pm - 21 Feb 2011

So we have 69 pageviews including 2 unique visitors from Mexican computers, 1 from South Africa, still only 1 from Spain, 3 from the U.S., and 18 different Canadians in about the last 3 hours or so, cool stuff.  Will be interesting over the next week or so to see where our readers are...

  1. Just added a contact form and removed any reference to the email address that was there … replaced it with an image of the text of the email address. Hopefully I’m smart enough to trick the robots.

  2. Also added today:

    – better looking Ads to the sidebar

    – pages to the top menu bar instead of the sidebar – found out how to do that here: http://arthur.kamst.com/2011/01/30/lightword-theme-tweaking-and-configuring-top-menu/

    – a 3D Twitter Wall page to the top menu. I got the plugin here: http://flashapplications.de/?p=423

    – the facebook “like” button for each blog post and page. info on the SNV Facebook Like Button plugin here: http://www.studionashvegas.com/plugins/facebook-like-button-plugin/

    – a retweet button. I tried the official retweet plugin but I think the Topsy Retweet Button works better. go here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/topsy/

Although I don’t use twitter or facebook, I’ve heard that many do so hopefully it will make the site a little more fun and/or interactive.

The 3D twitter wall is cool – except I don’t speak Spanish so the wall changes before I can figure out what they’re saying. I guess it’s easier to read than the Arabic script that would be there if he were playing in Dubai ! — WACB

  3. yes, it was, but it isn’t working correctly… the stats aren’t adding up properly and it doesn’t display every time. seems to be an issue on their side – the image doesn’t download every time.
