Milos Raonic – Canada Fan Blog an (unofficial) blog about tennis and Canadian player Milos Raonic

Acapulco (and Delray Beach)

After that terrific final against Andy Roddick in Memphis, Milos heads to Acapulco, Mexico for another ATP 500 event. Here is the tournament website. The singles draw is set, and it looks like Raonic will take on Argentinian Carlos Berlocq in the first round. Milos has a "day off" and isn't scheduled to play today -- I assume he'll play tomorrow, but it doesn't look like the order of play is set right now (or it just hasn't been posted on the website yet).

Not sure if this tournament will be streamed online for free, or if there will be any TV coverage of the early rounds here in Canada. Sportsnet coverage of Acapulco will start on Wednesday, according to the Canadian Sports Media Blog tennis schedule. Sportsnet One will be showing the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships starting this morning at 10:00AM ET.

In other Canadian tennis news, Frank Dancevic is current making his way through the qualifying rounds at the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships, an ATP 250 event. Dancevic has one more round of qualifying to go before earning a spot in the main draw. Here are the results from yesterday, and the schedule for today.

Plenty of tennis to keep an eye on this week.

  1. Just checked the Flag Counter I just installed and our first non-Cdn visitor since I installed it was from a Spanish IP address?

Ferrer or Verdasco perhaps? I predict he will have to play against both in semi-finals and finals respectively in Mexico…

  2. Hey thanks for posting a link to my blog.

Love the site, it should help with following Milos as he works his way towards the top. I’m really excited to see how he can do on clay. This tournament should be a real test for him because the only “top” player he played in Memphis and San Jose. There are some good clay court players here, especially Ferrer.

    • thanks for checking us out.

with any luck, we’ll see a Raonic and Verdasco final so those two can play a “real match”. apparently, their back to back hard court matches in San Jose and Memphis weren’t real enough for Verdasco.

but we’re a long way from that happening.

  3. If Alexandr Dolgopolov and Milos both win their first round matches in Acapulco we could see a battle of the “Rising Stars” in the second round…

Draw for Abierto Mexicano Telcel here: http://abiertomextenis.com.mx/draws_2011/MDS_ATP.pdf

Hopefully we see Raonic vs Dolgopolov – could be a great rivalry for the future too…
