Arrived at Rogers Cup – Follow the @MilosRaonicBlog for updates!
I've arrived for the first evening session at the Rogers Cup in Toronto. I've decided to start a twitter account for this site: @MilosRaonicBlog . Check it out: http://www.twitter.com/MilosRaonicBlog . I will post pics, info, etc.

Andy Murray beats Feds in Straights at London 2012!
What a day for Andy Murray and Team GB! Gold at his "home-country" Olympics...
What's next for these two?
Federer's taking a break after the straight sets loss, as he's pulled out of next week's Rogers Cup (link from Tennis Canada). Looking forward to seeing Olympic Gold Medalist there in a few days (though we'll probably still cheer for Raonic in that potential 3rd-round matchup)! Congrats to Andy Murray and his team!

del Po wins Bronze! Argentina’s first medal of 2012 Olympics!
Congrats Juan Martín del Potro, awesome performance!

p.s. Andy Murray just won the first two sets of the final versus Federer. Federer is playing poorly compared to what we're used to so far this year, losing by two breaks in both sets so far... watch it here live right now: http://www.ctvolympics.ca/videos/channel/ctv/watch/ctv-olympic-afternoon-august-5th.html
Milos’ Olympics are over… but not without a fight!
Tsonga outlasts Raonic in record-setting second-round match
What an amazing end to Milos' second round match with Joe Wilfred Tsonga. Both players showed immense skill, determination, and endurance. Both player's had an excellent attitude throughout the marathon match and their smiles at the end showed just how enjoyable it was for them.
Apparently it wasn't the longest match in Olympic history, as CTV tweeted that their research dept found that a match in 1920 lasted over 6 hours. It was the most games in a set though, with the third set going the distance. Final: 3-6, 6-3, 23-25.
Many commentators, bloggers, commentors on blogs, etc. have been saying that Milos needs more experience in long, 5-set matches; that he needs more rallies in competition versus top-10 playersl; and, that he needs more time playing on grass, in order to unleash his obviously potential on this surface. Well it looks like that's not a problem anymore!
Bravo Milos, good job. You've made Canada proud! Congrats on an amazing match that us Canadian Tennis fans won't forget (and there's always 4 years from now- can't wait)!

P.S. As I didn't get to watch the entire match, I'd be interested to hear comments from you all out there. I'll "feature" the good ones in updates to this post.
WOW…. still going!
I'm able to watch the end of the Tsonga/Raonic match... it's already the longest in Olympic history. Still on serve in the third, 20 games to 20... Watch online here:

P.S. Sorry about being absent, I've moved my family and my job due to a new job. I now live in Ottawa (a further drive from the Rogers up)!
Milos sending stand-ins (and Giraldo match to finish tomorrow)
Milos has to finish his match tomorrow, 27 Jun, though it may only be a couple of minutes (he's up two sets to none and leading 5-4 in the third). He's up second on Court 7, which will probably be around 9am or later, Eastern Time.
While we wait, here's a couple of TV spots from Tennis Canada, depicting Milos sending his "stand-ins" to take care of his commitments while he's off practicing for this year's Rogers Cup in Toronto (can't wait...).

Tough Draw for Milos in Madrid
The draw is out for the Mutua Madrid Open and things aren't looking good for Milos. He has drawn up against David Nalbandian in the first round, and should he win he would face Roger Federer in the second. Those are the kinds of opponents you would hopefully see later in a tournament, not in the opening rounds. It will be tough for Raonic to keep the claymentum going against such tough players, but he's coming in with a lot of confidence after his semi-final result in Barcelona. Hopefully we'll see Milos make another statement on the clay.
After the performance in Barcelona, Raonic reached a career high singles ranking of No.23 in the world. This is after dropping the points he earned from reaching the semi-finals in Estoril last year.
Sportsnet ONE will have coverage of the Mutua Madrid Open starting on Monday, May 7 at 7 AM EST. It looks like they'll be reshowing matches on tape delay throughout the rest of the day, so we may able to see Raonic's match on TV. No doubt it'll be streaming online live somewhere, though.
Good luck in Madrid, Milos. You're gonna need it. But then again, who needs luck when you get to hit with the King Of Clay:

Canada to face South Africa in Davis Cup
The next Davis Cup opponent for Canada is South Africa, in September, the matchup probably occurring in Johannesburg at the Montecasino leisure and gambling centre, the former home of the South African Open.
What makes you Run Better?
SAP Sponsorships has shared a pretty wicked contest with us where fans of Milos Raonic and Andy Roddick can enter to win signed tennis merchendise. To enter to win the signed tennis gear, you just need to let them know what makes you "Run Better". You can see full contest details and let them know what makes you "Run Better" in one of the following ways:
SAP Sponsors' contest page on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/#!/SAPSponsorships/app_95936962634

I hope some of our readers are lucky enough to win! The contests' page says it's running until Sunday, April 1st, and that the winners will be announced on Monday, April 2nd. Unfortunately for Milos' Canadian fans, this one is for US residents only, probably because it's associated with the SE Open in Miami.

P.S. : SAP Sponsors has been kind to us at the blog by providing some media for our use and by keeping us up to date on "SAP Ambassador" Milos Raonic. I'll ask if it's possible to make the next contest open to Canadians, but I don't know enough about all this stuff to know if that's feasible or not so no promises!
