Raonic vs. Sugita Tonight

Milos Raonic will make his return to the ATP Tour tonight at the Rakuten Japan Open in Tokyo against Japanese wildcard Yuichi Sugita.

Raonic and Sugita are scheduled to take Centre Court at 12 Noon local time (Oct.4), which is 11PM ET (Oct.3) if I am not mistaken. This is probably the best time for most Canadians looking to watch the match, especially for fans on the West coast. However, it does not appear at this point that Sportsnet is covering the tournament in Tokyo. We will make an update if there are any changes regarding this, but in the meantime you should be able to stream the matches elsewhere online.

You know the site I'm talking about...

  1. ESPN3.com is showing it apparently, so Canadians would have to go through a proxy or set something up with an American to stream it. If anyone finds a place accessible to Canadians to watch – let us know by posting a comment!

  2. Just looked at TennisTV.com and apparently live streaming of ATP Tokyo Rakuten Open starts on October 6th. This probably means Sportsnet couldn’t cover it until then anyways, even if they wanted to, since they usually just rebroadcast that stream anyways. This is disappointing.

I guess we will have to check for some highlight vids or something tomorrow – in the meantime, check here for the live score and stats for the match:

  3. I don’t see anywhere online with coverage, no streaming partner listed on the website… SAP Open in San Jose partnering with Veetle.com was awesome – HD stream over the internet for free and not locked down by region… progressive thinking from Silicon Valley and SAP – but we need this from Japan. I guess maybe it wasn’t considered because the play all happens while most people sleep???

  4. Yes, we’re 13 hours behind Tokyo in Toronto, Montréal, Ottawa, etc. so 11 pm Eastern. I guess it’ll be midnight in the Atlantic provinces, except for Newfoundland where it’s 12:30 am.

    Good luck Milos!

  5. @Tennis_Canada #Raonic is up first against Sugita in #Tokyo, about 11PM ET tonight! http://t.co/4UTk9uHU

  6. All the sites that I am aware of seem to only be streaming the challenger events…
