Raonic will be the second match at the Rod Laver Arena night session on Monday, directly following the S. Williams v. Kirilenko match, which starts at 7:30 pm local time on Monday (3:30 AM on Monday here in Eastern Standard Time in North America). Tennis Canada is estimating the match will start at 5:30 am EST, Monday, January 21st.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/mobile.twitter.com\/Tennis_Canada\/status\/293056462199074817?p=p<\/p>\n<p>http:\/\/www.tsn.ca\/tennis\/story\/?id=414049<\/p>\n<h3>Match Preview - Milos Raonic vs. Roger Federer, Monday, January 21st, Aussie Open 2013<\/h3>\n<h4>des nouvelles<\/h4>\n<p>Milos Raonic will meet Roger Federer in the Round of 16 (4th round) of the Australian Open 2013.\u00a0 Milos <a title=\"Aussie Open Round 3 : Milos Raonic versus Phil Kohlscrieber, Court 3\" href=\"http:\/\/milosraonic.ca\/blog\/2013\/01\/18\/aussie-open-round-3-milos-raonic-versus-phil-kohlscrieber-court-3\/\">defeated Philipp Kohlschreiber<\/a> after a shakey first set in just under 2 hours.\u00a0 Roger Federer is coming off a straight sets victory of his own versus another early-20s up-and-comer named Bernard Tomic.<\/p>\n<p>Federer's been looking good, as expected, in the first slam of 2013.\u00a0 He's gone through the first 3 rounds in straight sets (v. Paire, Davydenko, then Tomic).\u00a0 Federer is 13-0 against players born in the 1990s so far (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.atpworldtour.com\/News\/Tennis\/2013\/01\/3\/Australian-Open-Shark-Bites-Federer-250-Major-Wins.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">source<\/a>), adding the latest win earlier this morning against the young Australian.\u00a0 Wins versus Raonic count for some of those, but this streak must eventually come to an end.\u00a0 Milos, born in 1990, will play to avoid becoming just another statistic and matching Bernard Tomic's 0-4 head-to-head versus Roger.<\/p>\n<p>Here's what Milos'll be up against: footage from this (early) morning's match versus Bernard Tomic (AUS)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"550\" height=\"309\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FSMPMRP-Zh8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h4>when?<\/h4>\n<p>We won't know the time until the schedule's released in a couple of hours, and I'll update later...\u00a0 In the meantime, Tom Tebbutt predicts (wishful thinking?) that it will be a daytime match on Monday, in order to avoid Federer's having to play five night matches in a row (which means not <em>too<\/em> late for us in North America).\u00a0 Follow his reasoning <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tenniscanada.com\/index.php?title=TEBBUTT:-FEDERER%E2%80%93RAONIC-IV:-IT%E2%80%99S-ON&pid=4329\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a> : ).\u00a0 Let's hope he's right, otherwise work on Monday will be a drag.<\/p>\n<h4>previous encounters<\/h4>\n<p>Roger and Milos have clashed 3 times before, on hard courts, clay, and grass, in Indian Wells, Madrid, and Halle respectively.\u00a0 All of these matches were in 2012, and all of them went the distance - 3 sets.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in today's press conference, Roger said this of his previous matches with Raonic:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"I've had some tough matches with him in the past.\u00a0 All of them went the distance.\u00a0 Some of them I should have lost, maybe one or two.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Wells, I felt like I was more in control than the other two.\u00a0 In Madrid I was in a lot of trouble.\u00a0 Halle was extremely close.\"\u00a0 -- Roger Federer, Jan 19th, 2013 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.australianopen.com\/en_AU\/news\/interviews\/2013-01-19\/201301191358596376546.html\" target=\"_blank\">source<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\"Extremely close\" is a good descriptor.\u00a0 As I said, all their matches went \"the distance\" and they all involved tiebreaks, 4 in total.\u00a0 Two of those tiebreaks came in the first set of Halle and of Indian Wells, and Milos won those.\u00a0 The third and finals sets of Halle and Madrid were decided by tiebreak, and Roger won these.\u00a0 Interesting to note, he won't be able to put Raonic away in a tiebreak in the final set if this match is as close as those; with no 5th-set tiebreaks at the Aussie Open, Federer will need to break Raonic's serve to advance.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the possibility of a daytime match and the previous bouts with Roger Federer, Milos has this to say:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"I think that's better for me.\u00a0 It just quickens up the situations.\u00a0 The three times I played him have been either not great weather in Halle, which is pretty cool all the time, or both of the other times were night matches.<\/p>\n<p>So a day opportunity I think would be good for me.\"\u00a0 -- Milos Raonic, Jan 19th, 2013\u00a0 (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.australianopen.com\/en_AU\/news\/interviews\/2013-01-19\/201301191358591851962.html\" target=\"_blank\">source<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And for those wondering whether the haircut roumors were true:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"<strong>Q.\u00a0 I can't figure out whether you had a haircut since Kooyong.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MILOS RAONIC:\u00a0 I had a hair trim (smiling).\"\u00a0 -- Milos Raonic, Jan 19th, 2013 (<a href=\"Q.
